- Ham slices 5 pieces (approx. 100g)
- 1 Onion (medium size)
- 2 stalks White part of green onion
- 1 Cheongyang pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
Stir-Fry Seasoning
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 1.5 Tbsp Cooking syrup (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 1.5 Tbsp Cooking syrup (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all your ingredients by cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Slice the fish cakes (200g package) lengthwise. Cut 5 slices of ham into long strips. Thinly slice one onion. Chop the white parts of two green onions into large pieces. If you prefer a bit of heat, finely mince one Cheongyang pepper.
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 3
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the prepared fish cakes, ham, onion, green onions, and Cheongyang pepper (if using) to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat until everything is well combined and the vegetables begin to soften.
Step 4
When the ingredients are partially cooked and have softened slightly, pour 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce around the edges of the pan. Let the sauces sizzle for a moment before tossing everything together to coat evenly. This helps the sauces penetrate the ingredients.
Step 5
Once the ingredients are well coated with the sauce, it’s time to add sweetness. Stir in 1.5 tablespoons of cooking syrup (or corn syrup) and continue to stir-fry until a glossy sheen develops. You can adjust the sweetness to your preference.
Step 6
Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If it’s not salty enough, add a pinch of salt. Once the flavor is perfect, turn off the heat. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds.
Step 7
Finally, sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper over the dish. Your delicious Stir-Fried Fish Cake and Ham is now ready! Enjoy it with a warm bowl of rice for a satisfying meal.
