Main Ingredients- Dried shredded squid 200g
Seasoning & Other Ingredients- Soy sauce 2.5 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 2 Tbsp
- Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) 1.5 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame seeds, a pinch
- Canola oil or cooking oil, as needed
- Soy sauce 2.5 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 2 Tbsp
- Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) 1.5 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame seeds, a pinch
- Canola oil or cooking oil, as needed
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gently loosen any clumps in the dried shredded squid. If the strands are too long, cut them once or twice into bite-sized pieces for easier handling and eating.
Step 2
Place the prepared dried shredded squid in a large bowl. Add 2.5 Tbsp of soy sauce and a generous amount of canola oil (or cooking oil). Adding a bit more oil helps prevent sticking and gives the dish a nice sheen when stir-fried.
Step 3
Before turning on the heat, put on disposable gloves and mix everything with your hands. This ensures the seasoning coats the squid strands evenly, resulting in a much tastier stir-fry. Make sure the seasoning penetrates every strand.
Step 4
Now, place a pan on medium heat. Once the squid starts to curl and cook slightly, quickly add 1.5 Tbsp of oligosaccharide, 2 Tbsp of sesame oil, and a pinch of toasted sesame seeds. Stir-fry rapidly for about 1-2 minutes until well combined and slightly glossy. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become tough. Turn off the heat as soon as it’s done.
Step 5
Transfer the finished stir-fried dried shredded squid to a serving dish. This delicious banchan (side dish) is now ready! It’s even chewier and more delicious once it cools slightly.
