Sushi Rice Roll Ingredients

  • 3 sheets of Gim (Seaweed for Kimbap)
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 strips of Danmuji (Pickled Radish)
  • 1/2 can of Spam (small can)
  • 2 bowls of cooked rice

Rice Seasoning

  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the half can of Spam into long, thin strips, about 1 cm thick, into 16 pieces. Cut the pickled radish to a similar length as the Spam strips.

Step 2

Heat a pan and cook the Spam strips until golden brown. Once the Spam is slightly cooked, add the soy sauce, oligosaccharide, and mirin. Simmer over low heat until the Spam is glazed and the sauce has thickened. This will give the Spam a beautiful sheen and rich flavor.

Step 3

Prepare the rice for the kimbap. In two bowls of warm cooked rice, add two pinches of salt and one tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix thoroughly until the seasonings are evenly distributed. The sesame oil will infuse the rice with its aroma.

Step 4

Cut each of the 3 sheets of kimbap gim into 4 equal pieces. Spread a thin layer of the seasoned rice onto one piece of gim. Place the glazed Spam and pickled radish strips on top of the rice. Make sure not to spread the rice too thickly to prevent the rolls from breaking when you shape them.

Step 5

Carefully roll up the gim with the rice and fillings tightly. In a separate pan, lightly oiled, whisk the 3 eggs and cook them into thin omelets. Once the omelets are cooked, carefully wrap each rolled kimbap with a sheet of the egg omelet. The egg layer will help hold the kimbap together and add extra flavor.

Step 6

Slice the finished kimbap into bite-sized pieces. Your delicious Spam Maki Rolls are ready to be enjoyed! They are perfect for packing in lunchboxes as mini rolls or simply for a delightful snack.
