  • Category : Side dish
  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 4 servings
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 3 sheets of square fish cake
  • 4 round fish cakes
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/4 carrot
  • 1/2 stalk of green onion
  • 10 cloves of garlic

Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, heat a pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil. We’ll stir-fry the vegetables first.

Step 1

Step 2

Slice 1/2 onion into thick strips.

Step 2

Step 3

Thinly slice 10 cloves of garlic. Sliced garlic will add a wonderful aroma.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the sliced onion, sliced garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the pan. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant. It’s best when the onion becomes slightly translucent.

Step 4

Step 5

Next, add 4 round fish cakes, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm), and stir-fry for another minute. Coating the fish cakes with oil will make them taste even better.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, thinly julienne the 3 sheets of square fish cake. Cutting them thinly will help them absorb the sauce better.

Step 6

Step 7

Julienne 1/4 carrot. This will add a nice color to the dish.

Step 7

Step 8

Add the julienned square fish cake, carrot, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic to the pan. Stir-fry for about 1 minute. The aroma of garlic will enhance the overall flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

Now it’s time to add the sauce. Tilt the pan slightly and add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the edge of the pan, allowing it to caramelize slightly. This deepens the sweetness.

Step 9

Step 10

Then, pour 2 tablespoons of soy sauce around the caramelized sugar. Once the soy sauce starts to bubble, stir everything together evenly to coat all the ingredients.

Step 10

Step 11

Add the diagonally sliced white parts of the green onion and stir-fry for another minute. The sweetness and aroma of the green onion will blend beautifully.

Step 11

Step 12

Finally, prepare the green parts of the green onion by chopping them finely.

Step 12

Step 13

Add the chopped green parts of the green onion and 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of perilla oil for a glossy finish.

Step 13

Step 14

Give everything a quick stir-fry (‘hwiririk~’) to combine the ingredients with the sauce. Your delicious soy-glazed fish cake stir-fry is now complete!

Step 14

Step 15

With the savory soy glaze adding depth, this chewy and springy ‘Soy-Glazed Fish Cake Stir-fry’ is perfectly done!

Step 15

Step 16

It’s an ideal side dish for any meal or a great addition to packed lunches. Enjoy your delicious meal today! ^^
