  • Category : Rice / Porridge / Rice cake
  • Ingredient Category : Pork
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bowl cooked rice (approx. 200g)
  • 150g ground pork
  • 100g spinach (a handful)
  • 100g soybean sprouts (a handful)
  • 1/4 carrot, julienned
  • Seaweed flakes, to taste
  • Sesame seeds, to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Marinate the Pork: In a bowl, combine the ground pork with 1 Tbsp cooking wine, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes. The cooking wine helps to tenderize the pork and remove any gamey odors.

Step 1

Step 2

Blanch Soybean Sprouts: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the soybean sprouts and cover. Blanch for about 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become mushy.

Step 2

Step 3

Season Soybean Sprouts: Rinse the blanched soybean sprouts under cold water to stop the cooking process and cool them down. Drain thoroughly, ensuring all excess water is removed. In a bowl, toss the sprouts with 1 tsp sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper until evenly coated. It’s important to maintain their crisp texture.

Step 3

Step 4

Blanch Spinach: In the same boiling water used for the sprouts, add the washed spinach. Blanch briefly, starting with the roots, for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until wilted. Overcooking spinach can diminish its nutrients and texture.

Step 4

Step 5

Season Spinach: Immediately rinse the blanched spinach under cold water. Squeeze out as much water as possible using your hands. Chop the spinach into bite-sized pieces (about 1.5-2 inches long) and place in a bowl. Add the remaining 1 tsp sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix until well combined.

Step 5

Step 6

Stir-fry Carrots: Heat 1 Tbsp cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the julienned carrots and a pinch of salt. Stir-fry until the carrots are slightly tender and translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Avoid overcooking them.

Step 6

Step 7

Stir-fry Pork: Wipe the pan clean or use a separate pan. Add a little cooking oil and add the marinated ground pork. Stir-fry over medium heat, breaking up any clumps, until the pork is cooked through and lightly browned. Ensure it’s fully cooked.

Step 7

Step 8

Assemble the Bibimbap: Place the warm rice in a serving bowl. Arrange the stir-fried carrots, seasoned soybean sprouts, seasoned spinach, and cooked pork around the rice in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Leave the center of the bowl empty.

Step 8

Step 9

Add Toppings: Generously sprinkle seaweed flakes into the center of the bowl. Seaweed flakes add a wonderful umami flavor to the bibimbap.

Step 9

Step 10

Finishing Touches: Sprinkle with sesame seeds for a final touch. Your delicious Pork Bibimbap is ready! For extra flavor, add gochujang (Korean chili paste) and an extra drizzle of sesame oil before mixing and enjoying.
