  • 300g fresh Petasites Japonicus stems

  • 2 Tbsp savory tuna extract
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp perilla seed powder
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Cooking Instructions

First, carefully peel the tough outer skin from the Petasites Japonicus stems. Once peeled, rinse them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris.

Cut the prepared stems into bite-sized pieces. To make them easier to handle while cooking and eating, cut them into lengths of about 5-7 cm.

Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the cut Petasites Japonicus stems and 1 teaspoon of salt to help eliminate any bitterness. Boil for about 5 minutes, or until the stems become tender.

Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the drained Petasites Japonicus stems, 2 tablespoons of tuna extract for a savory flavor, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic for aroma, and 1/2 cup of water to keep them moist while stir-frying. Sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
