- Generous amount of Perilla Oil
Savory Sauce- 1 Green Onion (white part preferred)
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 0.5-1 tsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup, adjust to taste)
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Green Onion (white part preferred)
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 0.5-1 tsp Oligodang (Korean corn syrup, adjust to taste)
- Pinch of Salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Slice the tofu into pieces about 1.5 to 2 cm thick. For 300g of tofu, you should get about 10 slices. Slicing them too thinly can cause them to break easily, so aim for a moderate thickness.
Step 2
Place the sliced tofu on a layer of paper towels to drain excess water and remove surface moisture. This step helps prevent oil splattering when frying and results in a crispier texture.
Step 3
Lightly sprinkle salt on both sides of the drained tofu for seasoning. This will enhance the flavor as it soaks into the tofu.
Step 4
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of perilla oil. Carefully place the seasoned tofu slices in the pan and fry them slowly. Cook until the edges turn golden brown, then gently flip them over to cook the other side. Cooking thoroughly is key to achieving a crispy texture.
Step 5
Once one side is golden brown and crisp, carefully flip the tofu slices and fry the other side until it’s also golden brown and crisp. Aim for a beautiful golden hue on both sides.
Step 6
Now, let’s prepare the savory sauce to complement the pan-fried tofu. First, wash the green onion and finely mince it, focusing on the white parts. If using thin green onions, chop them very finely so they blend well into the sauce.
Step 7
In a small bowl, combine the minced green onion with soy sauce, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, oligodang, and a tiny pinch of salt. Mix everything thoroughly to create the sauce. Adjust the amount of oligodang to your preference for sweetness, but using a little will help maintain a clean, balanced flavor.
