Main Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 50g sliced ham
  • 1/4 onion

Seasoning & Others

  • Generous amount of cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • Pinch of toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips, about 4cm long. Rinse the cut potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch. Soak them in water for about 5 minutes, then drain thoroughly in a colander. This step prevents the potatoes from sticking together and ensures a better texture when fried.

Step 1

Step 2

Peel and slice the onion into strips similar in length to the potatoes. Slice the ham into bite-sized pieces as well.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced potatoes and onions and stir-fry. Cook until the potatoes begin to look slightly translucent and tender.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the potatoes are partially cooked and translucent, add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir-fry together to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the ingredients. Adjust the saltiness considering the ham’s inherent saltiness.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, add the sliced ham to the pan. Stir-fry briefly, just enough to combine everything. Be careful not to overcook the ham, as it can become tough. A quick stir-fry is best to maintain its texture.

Step 5

Step 6

Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in the sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds to finish. The fragrant aroma of sesame oil and the nutty crunch of sesame seeds will elevate the flavor of your pan-fried potatoes and ham.
