  • 2 Skewers
  • 4 Tbsp Cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Prepare 10 tteokbokki rice cakes. If your rice cakes are hard, it’s a good idea to soak them in water or blanch them briefly beforehand. Skewer 5 rice cakes onto each of the 2 skewers, spacing them nicely. Be gentle when skewering to prevent the rice cakes from breaking.

Step 2

Heat a pan over medium heat and add 4 tablespoons of cooking oil. Place the skewered rice cakes into the hot oil. Ensuring there’s enough oil to prevent sticking is key for a good result.

Step 3

Cook the rice cakes, turning them frequently, until they are golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides. This process gives them a delightful texture.

Step 4

Once the rice cakes are nicely browned, reduce the heat to low. Carefully drain some of the excess oil from the pan, then add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir-fry the rice cakes with the sauce, ensuring they are well coated. Cooking over low heat is important at this stage to prevent the oyster sauce from burning.

Step 5

Continue to cook, turning the rice cakes occasionally, until they are evenly coated with the oyster sauce and have a glossy, appealing color.
