  • 2 Korean green chilies (Cheongyang peppers), seeds removed and finely minced
  • 1/3 medium carrot, finely minced
  • 1/2 small onion, finely minced
  • 1/2 cup Korean pancake mix (buchim garu)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 handful green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

We’re going to make delicious and nutritious tuna patties, known as ‘Donggeurangttaeng’ in Korean. They’re a crowd-pleaser for all ages!

First, thoroughly drain the oil from the canned tuna using a sieve. This step is crucial for a less greasy and more savory taste. To the drained tuna, add 2 finely minced Cheongyang peppers (seeds removed), 1/3 finely minced carrot, and 1/2 finely minced onion. Finely dicing the vegetables not only adds a pleasant texture but also helps the patties hold their shape.

Now, let’s prepare the batter. Add 1/2 cup of Korean pancake mix, 2 large eggs, and 1 pinch of salt to the tuna and vegetable mixture. Then, stir in 1 handful of finely chopped green onions and 2 teaspoons of minced garlic. The green onions and garlic will help balance the tuna’s flavor and add a wonderful aroma.
