Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the pork belly. Heat a pan over medium heat, add a very small amount of Vuco Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and sear the pork belly until golden brown on both sides. This step seals in the juices, ensuring a more tender result.

Step 2

While the pork belly is searing, add a bit of Vuco Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to a pot over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic, sliced ginger, large pieces of green onion, and red chili pepper for about 2 minutes until fragrant. The aroma from the vegetables will infuse into the coconut oil, enhancing the flavor profile.

Step 3

To the pot with the sautéed vegetables, add the Vuco Coconut Water Organic, soy sauce, brown sugar, five-spice powder, and star anise. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat to allow the flavors to meld together.

Once the marinade is boiling, carefully add the seared pork belly to the pot. Ensure the pork belly is submerged in the liquid. After it comes to a boil again, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer gently for about 1 hour.
