Ingredients

  • Frozen Pork Belly 2 portions (approx. 300-400g)
  • Doenjang (Korean soybean paste) 2 Tbsp
  • Sesame Oil 2 Tbsp
  • Sugar 1 Tbsp
  • Minced Garlic 1/2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the flavorful doenjang marinade. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of doenjang, 2 tablespoons of nutty sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness, and 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic for added aroma. Mix these ingredients thoroughly with a spoon until well combined. The sugar will help to mellow the earthy notes of the doenjang, while the garlic and sesame oil will create a wonderful fragrance.

Step 1

Step 2

Now it’s time to marinate the frozen pork belly. If your pork belly has thawed, gently pat it dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Then, generously coat both sides of the pork belly with the prepared marinade. Gently rub the marinade into the meat to ensure it penetrates the slices evenly. Be careful not to apply the marinade too thickly, as it can cause the pork belly to burn during cooking.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s grill this delicious doenjang-marinated pork belly! Place the marinated pork belly onto a preheated frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook slowly, turning frequently to ensure even cooking on both sides until it’s golden brown and perfectly grilled. The fat rendered from the pork belly will meld beautifully with the marinade, creating an even richer flavor. Once both sides are appetizingly cooked, it’s ready to enjoy! Serve hot with steamed rice, fresh lettuce wraps, and your favorite ssamjang (dipping sauce).
