This rice bowl features stir-fried cabbage and soft silken tofu, brought together by a savory doubanjiang sauce. It’s simple yet incredibly flavorful, guaranteed to disappear quickly!
Main Ingredients- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
- 1 pack of silken tofu
- 4 leaves of fresh cabbage
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Doubanjiang Sauce- 1 Tbsp chopped scallions (for aromatic flavor)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp flavorful doubanjiang (spicy broad bean paste)
- 1 tsp minced garlic (for a hint of garlic)
- 1 tsp honey syrup (for sweetness)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp chopped scallions (for aromatic flavor)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp flavorful doubanjiang (spicy broad bean paste)
- 1 tsp minced garlic (for a hint of garlic)
- 1 tsp honey syrup (for sweetness)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the cabbage leaves, remove the tough core, and slice them into thin strips about 0.5 cm thick. Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the shredded cabbage and stir-fry. When the cabbage begins to soften and turn translucent, season with a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry until the cabbage’s natural sweetness is released, aiming for a slightly golden hue.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp doubanjiang, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp honey syrup, 1 tsp toasted sesame oil, 1 tsp minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp chopped scallions. Stir well with a spoon until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed and form a cohesive sauce. Ensure everything is evenly distributed.
Step 3
Place the warm cooked rice into a serving bowl. Gently place the entire pack of silken tofu on top of the rice. The silken tofu will add a wonderfully smooth texture when mixed with the rice and toppings.
Step 4
Generously spoon the stir-fried cabbage over the silken tofu. Drizzle the prepared doubanjiang sauce over the cabbage. Mix everything together – the rice, cabbage, tofu, and sauce – until well combined. Enjoy this delicious rice bowl! If you prefer a spicier kick, feel free to add a little gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the sauce.
