Main Ingredients

  • 100g beef brisket
  • 3 shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/2 large green onion
  • 1 block firm tofu

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, place the 100g of beef brisket in a pot and stir-fry over medium heat. It’s important to cook it enough to release its savory aroma.

Step 1

Step 2

Continue to sauté until the delicious fat from the beef brisket has rendered out. This rendered fat will make the doenjang jjigae’s flavor even deeper and richer.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the fat has rendered, add an appropriate amount of water. About 400-500ml is suitable for two servings. Using rice water or anchovy-kelp broth will yield an even deeper flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, add the doenjang jjigae seasoning for two servings, stir well to dissolve, and bring to a boil over high heat. It’s best to stir occasionally to prevent the soybean paste from clumping.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the stew starts boiling, add the 3 prepared shiitake mushrooms. The fragrant flavor of the shiitake mushrooms will infuse into the broth, making it even more delicious.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the chopped 1/2 large green onion. The refreshing taste of the green onion will provide a clean finish to the doenjang jjigae.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, add the 1 block of tofu, cut into cubes. Add the tofu gently to prevent it from breaking apart while it cooks.

Step 7

Step 8

Simmer vigorously for about 5 more minutes, allowing all the ingredients to meld together. The ingredients will share their flavors, creating a deeply satisfying doenjang jjigae.

Step 8

Step 9

Enjoy your delicious meal with a warm bowl of rice! ^^
