Savory and Zesty! Pickled Radish Salad Recipe
Spicy, Sweet, and Salty Pickled Radish Salad
My neighbor kindly gave me a generous amount of homemade pickled radish! They brought it back from the countryside and shared some with me, so I decided to make a delicious side dish with it. This pickled radish salad is wonderfully savory, slightly sweet, and tangy. Let’s make it together!
Main Ingredients- 400g pickled radish (mu jangajji)
- 1/2 green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the star of our delicious pickled radish salad: 400g of pickled radish. Gently rinse the pickled radish under running water to slightly reduce its saltiness. Be careful not to rinse for too long, as this can diminish the flavor. Cut the radish into bite-sized pieces, such as cubes or strips. Cutting them slightly thicker can also enhance the chewy texture.
Step 2
Next, let’s prepare the green onion (1/2 stalk) which will add a fresh aroma to the salad. Wash the green onion thoroughly and thinly slice it. You can slice it into fine shreds or chop it finely, according to your preference. Feel free to adjust the amount to your liking.
Step 3
Now, let’s mix all the ingredients to create a flavorful pickled radish salad! In a large bowl, combine the sliced pickled radish and the chopped green onion. Add 0.7 Tbsp of red chili flakes for a touch of spice, 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic for depth of flavor, 0.5 Tbsp of sugar for a hint of sweetness, and 0.5 Tbsp of cooking wine to cut through richness and add aroma. Finally, sprinkle in 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds and 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for nuttiness, and a pinch of black pepper. Your seasoning is ready!
Step 4
Gently mix everything together, ensuring the seasoning coats the pickled radish and green onion evenly. It’s important to toss the ingredients so the seasoning is well distributed and doesn’t clump. Be gentle when mixing to avoid mashing the pickled radish. Once all the flavors are well combined, your appetizing pickled radish salad is complete! Serve it in a nice dish for a wonderful banchan (side dish).
