Introducing the Sausage and Vegetable Stir-fry, a beloved staple that perfectly complements beer and is also a fantastic side dish. We’ve skipped the gochujang and instead used oyster sauce and ketchup to create a delicious savory-sweet flavor that everyone, from kids to adults, will love. It’s a simple yet impressive dish for both snacks and meals!
Main Ingredients
- 20 Vienna sausages
- 60g red bell pepper
- 60g yellow bell pepper
- A little cooking oil
Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes – optional, for color)
- 1.5 Tbsp ketchup
- 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar
- Pinch of black pepper
- A little sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes – optional, for color)
- 1.5 Tbsp ketchup
- 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar
- Pinch of black pepper
- A little sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all your ingredients. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly, remove the seeds, and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2
Make 2-3 diagonal scores on the Vienna sausages. This helps the sauce penetrate better and makes them look more appealing.
Step 3
Briefly blanch the scored sausages in boiling water for about 10 seconds. This removes any impurities and keeps the sausages delightfully firm.
Step 4
Cut the red and yellow bell peppers into approximately 1 to 1.5 cm pieces after removing the seeds. Using a variety of colors will make your dish look even more vibrant.
Step 5
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the blanched sausages and stir-fry for about 30 seconds. This lightly sears the sausages and enhances their flavor.
Step 6
Now, add all the sauce ingredients: 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1.5 Tbsp ketchup, 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar, and 0.5 Tbsp gochugaru (for color). Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes over medium heat, allowing the sauce to coat the sausages evenly. Be careful not to burn it.
Step 7
Add the cut red and yellow bell peppers to the pan. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, just until the peppers are slightly softened but still retain a bit of crunch. Maintaining the crispness of the peppers is key.
Step 8
Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle some sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. If you enjoy nuts, adding a little chopped peanut is also a great idea.
Step 9
Finally, finish with a grind of black pepper. Your delicious Soya (Sausage and Vegetable Stir-fry) is ready! Give it a final gentle toss to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
Step 10
This Soya dish is not only a perfect companion to beer but also makes a fantastic rice topping, like a hearty rice bowl. Enjoy this wonderful dish that the whole family will love!
