Savory and Sweet Braised Black Beans

Made a delicious black bean side dish! It’s great to have on hand as a rice accompaniment. Enjoy this nutritious and flavorful dish.
Ingredients- 1 handful soaked black beans (approx. 100g)
Seasoning- 4 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 4 Tbsp soy sauce

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare pre-soaked black beans. (Soak in cold water for 6-8 hours or overnight). Drain the soaked beans in a sieve.
Step 2
Place the soaked black beans in a pot and add 1 cup (approx. 200ml) of water. Ensure the beans are submerged.
Step 3
Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to medium heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally with a spatula to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 4
When the water has reduced, add 4 Tbsp soy sauce and 3 Tbsp sugar. Reduce heat to low and stir to let the flavors meld. Finally, add 3 Tbsp honey for sweetness and gloss. Stir for another 1-2 minutes until all seasonings are well combined. Your delicious braised black beans are ready!
