Main Ingredients- 20 frozen dumpling wrappers
- 1/2 medium potato
- 1/2 medium onion
- 50g carrot
- 1/2 stalk green onion
Seasoning and Broth- 2 Tbsp dehulled perilla seed powder
- 1 Tbsp anchovy sauce
- 1 Tbsp tuna extract sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic (optional)
- 2 Tbsp dehulled perilla seed powder
- 1 Tbsp anchovy sauce
- 1 Tbsp tuna extract sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the dumpling wrappers. Frozen wrappers tend to stick together, so spread them out one by one on a large plate or cutting board. Cut each wrapper into 4 pieces. This step prevents them from sticking to each other during cooking.
Step 2
Peel and wash the potato thoroughly. Cut it in half and then slice it thinly, about 0.5cm thick. The potato will help thicken the broth as it cooks.
Step 3
Peel the onion and cut it into quarters, then slice it thinly into strips. Wash and peel the carrot, then slice it into thin matchsticks. The natural sweetness of the vegetables will enrich the broth’s flavor.
Step 4
In a pot, add 1 liter (L) of water. Place the dried anchovies and dried shrimp in a broth bag, and add the kelp sheet. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for about 5 minutes to create a delicious broth. Remember to remove the broth bag and kelp later.
Step 5
Once the broth is boiling, remove the kelp and the broth bag. Add the prepared potato, carrot, and onion to the pot. Continue to boil until the potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. This allows the vegetables’ sweetness to infuse into the broth.
Step 6
When the vegetables are cooked, gradually add the cut dumpling wrappers, stirring gently to prevent them from clumping. Once the wrappers are cooked, season the stew with minced garlic (optional), 1 tablespoon of anchovy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of tuna extract sauce. Finally, whisk in 2 tablespoons of dehulled perilla seed powder, ensuring it dissolves smoothly, and let it simmer.
Step 7
As the perilla seed powder thickens the stew, add the diagonally sliced green onion and simmer for another moment to finish. Your savory perilla seed stew is ready! Enjoy it while it’s hot.
