Recipe Info

  • Category : Side dish
  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 4 Frankfurt sausages (approx. 200g)
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1/2 medium carrot
  • 1 bell pepper (any color)
  • A small piece of green onion (white part)

Sauce

  • 5 Tbsp ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by preparing the vegetables. Peel the onion and carrot, then wash them thoroughly under running water. If using a bell pepper, remove the seeds and wash it.

Step 1

Step 2

Chop the prepared vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Slice the onion thickly or dice it into large chunks. Cut the carrot and bell pepper into slices about 0.5 cm thick. Avoid making them too thin, as they might become mushy when stir-fried.

Step 2

Step 3

Slice the Frankfurt sausages diagonally or into rounds about 1.5 cm thick. You can also cut them in half lengthwise if you prefer a longer shape. For a chewier texture, you can briefly blanch the sausages in boiling water before slicing.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and add about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Cook until the garlic is gently aromatic.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the garlic is fragrant, add the carrots, which are denser vegetables, to the pan first. Stir-fry them for about 2 minutes. Adding carrots first helps them cook evenly with the other vegetables.

Step 5

Step 6

When the carrots start to soften slightly, add the sliced onion and green onion to the pan. Continue to stir-fry until the onion becomes translucent. Cooking over medium heat prevents the vegetables from burning and ensures even cooking.

Step 6

Step 7

As the onion turns transparent and sweetens, add the colorful bell pepper. Stir-fry for just about 1 minute more. Bell peppers become soft quickly, so stir-frying them briefly helps maintain a pleasant crispness.

Step 7

Step 8

Finally, add the sliced sausages to the pan and stir-fry everything together until well combined. Continue to cook until the sausages are lightly browned for extra flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

Now it’s time to flavor everything! Add the ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, and black pepper directly into the pan. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly to coat all the ingredients evenly with the sauce. This quick stir-fry ensures the sauce clings to the food.

Step 9

Step 10

Your delicious Sausage and Vegetable Stir-fry, with its perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, is now ready! It’s a fantastic snack for children and an excellent accompaniment to cold beer or makgeolli for adults.

Step 10

Step 11

Enjoy your meal!
