The Perfect Meal Filler: Rolled Omelet Kimbap

Make delicious Rolled Omelet Kimbap even when you don’t have side dishes. This recipe offers a delightful way to enjoy a simple meal.
Ingredients- 4 eggs
- A little carrot (finely chopped)
- 2 stalks green onion (chopped)
- 1/4 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 pinch salt
- 4 sheets of dried seaweed (gim)
- 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the filling for the rolled omelet. Crack 4 eggs into a bowl. Add finely chopped carrot, chopped green onion, and finely minced onion. Add a pinch of salt and whisk everything together thoroughly with a fork or whisk until well combined. Finely chopped vegetables will provide a pleasant texture when cooked.

Step 2
Heat an omelet pan over low heat. Pour a thin layer of the beaten egg mixture into the pan. Once the egg is cooked, roll it up. Repeat this process twice to create two thick rolled omelets. Rolling thinly in multiple layers rather than one thick pour will result in a softer and more visually appealing omelet.

Step 3
Place the well-rolled omelets on a bamboo sushi mat to shape them. Lay a 2/3 sheet of gim (seaweed) and place the rolled omelet, supported by the mat, on top. Use the bamboo mat to tightly roll the seaweed around the omelet. Shaping it like this ensures it will be neat and won’t fall apart when sliced later. Let it sit for a moment to allow the shape to set.

Step 4
Now it’s time to prepare the rice. Spread the warm cooked rice thinly over the sheet of gim. Spreading the rice thinly is crucial; if it’s too thick, it can overpower the delicate flavor of the omelet when rolled. Place the prepared rolled omelet on the thinly spread rice. Using the bamboo mat, press firmly as you roll to create a compact kimbap. Your delicious Rolled Omelet Kimbap is now complete! Slice into bite-sized pieces and enjoy.
