Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the Crab Stick Mayo filling. Tear the imitation crab sticks into smaller, bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, combine the torn crab sticks with 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, a pinch of herbed salt, 1 teaspoon of honey, a pinch of lemon juice, and freshly ground black pepper (about 2 twists). Mix everything thoroughly until well combined and slightly clumped together.
Step 2
Next, we’ll make the Tuna Wasabi Mayo filling. Drain the oil from the canned tuna thoroughly using paper towels. In a separate bowl, mix the drained tuna with 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of wasabi paste, and freshly ground black pepper (about 1 twist). Stir until smooth and well blended.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the Kim Egg Roll for the sushi. Slice the pre-made egg roll into thin pieces. Take 3 of these slices and cut them vertically into two equal halves. (You can use the remaining egg roll for other dishes!).
Step 4
All the fillings for your rolled Inari sushi are now ready! Have your sliced Kim Egg Rolls, Vienna sausages (cut into 4 pieces each or sliced lengthwise – grilling them beforehand adds great flavor!), Crab Stick Mayo, and Tuna Wasabi Mayo ready.
Step 5
Let’s start assembling the rolled Inari sushi. Prepare your rolled Inari sushi pouches. These are typically large and flat, making them perfect for rolling.
Step 6
Inside the Inari sushi package, you’ll usually find the seasoned fried tofu pouches, a sesame seed and vegetable seasoning mix, sushi vinegar sauce, and roasted seaweed sheets. (Some packages might include tartar sauce, but we won’t be using it in this recipe).
Step 7
In a bowl, combine the warm sushi rice with the sushi vinegar sauce and the sesame seed and vegetable seasoning mix. Gently mix the rice until it’s well seasoned, being careful not to mash the grains.
Step 8
Lay one of the flattened, seasoned fried tofu pouches flat. Place a sheet of roasted seaweed on top. Spread a moderate amount of the seasoned sushi rice evenly over the seaweed. Now, arrange your fillings—Tuna Wasabi Mayo and Crab Stick Mayo—over the rice. Carefully roll the tofu and seaweed together tightly to enclose the fillings. Ensure it’s rolled firmly so the ingredients don’t fall out.
Step 9
Tip: If you unfold the fried tofu completely flat, the seaweed might slide to one side. For a neater appearance next time, try unfolding only one side of the tofu pouch. This helps create a more compact roll.
Step 10
Alternatively, you can try rolling with only half of the seasoned tofu pouch. Place the roasted seaweed on the half-pouch, spread a thin layer of seasoned rice, and then add the Tuna Wasabi Mayo and sliced Vienna sausages. Roll it up tightly. (It’s okay if the seaweed is slightly longer than the tofu).
Step 11
Finally, add the Kim Egg Roll pieces and roll in the same manner. Arrange your completed rolled Inari sushi on a serving plate. For an attractive presentation, cut some of the rolls in half. Congratulations, your diverse and flavorful rolled Inari sushi is ready! The balanced rice-to-filling ratio makes them delightfully light and enjoyable, perfect for eating multiple pieces without feeling overwhelmed. Their bite-sized nature makes them a hit with both kids and adults. Feel free to experiment with different fillings to create your own signature rolls!
