Ingredients for Nourishing Gomtang

  • 1 pack store-bought Gomtang (oxtail soup base)
  • 1 pack beef tendon
  • 1 pack oxtail
  • Fresh chives (buchu)
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by pouring the entire contents of the store-bought gomtang pack, the beef tendon, and the oxtail into a large pot. Combining these ingredients will create a much richer and deeper flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat. It’s crucial to boil it sufficiently until the broth turns a milky white. Skimming off any foam that rises to the surface during boiling will result in a cleaner taste.

Step 2

Step 3

While the soup is boiling, wash the fresh chives thoroughly and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Arrange them neatly around the edge of a serving dish for an attractive presentation.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, artfully arrange the boiled beef tendon and oxtail in the center of the dish. Placing the main ingredients in the middle makes the dish look even more appetizing.

Step 4

Step 5

Finally, carefully ladle the piping hot gomtang broth over the arranged tendon and oxtail. The warm broth will envelop the ingredients, enhancing their flavors.

Step 5

Step 6

Finish by sprinkling a pinch of toasted sesame seeds over the soup, according to your preference. The nutty aroma of the sesame seeds will further elevate the deep flavor of the gomtang.

Step 6

Step 7

The completed gomtang dish boasts a beautiful, glossy color, making it suitable even for serving guests. It has a rich, deep broth flavor with absolutely no unpleasant odors. My husband devoured the soup, but thanks to the generous portions of tendon and oxtail, along with fresh chives, we enjoyed a delicious meal that tasted as if it were homemade, despite using a store-bought base.
