  • 1 Tbsp Perilla oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Introducing Cheonggukjang Jjigae, a stew bursting with rich, savory flavors. With this recipe, anyone can make a delicious Cheonggukjang Jjigae!

Step 1

Step 2

In a pot, add 5 cups of rice water and 1 tablespoon of perilla oil. Add the 150g of Cheonggukjang and stir well to dissolve it into the water, ensuring no lumps remain. It’s crucial to fully dissolve the Cheonggukjang for a smooth texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Dice the 1/2 block of firm tofu into approximately 1.5cm cubes. Finely chop the Korean green chili pepper and red chili pepper. Chop the green onion into similar-sized pieces. Using fresh ingredients will enhance the flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Thinly slice the radish. Add the sliced radish to the pot with the dissolved Cheonggukjang and bring to a boil over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the radish to soften. This step infuses the broth with a refreshing sweetness.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the radish has softened slightly, add the diced tofu and chopped green onions. Then, add the chopped Korean green chili pepper and red chili pepper. These will add beautiful color and a pleasant spicy kick.

Step 5

Step 6

For an extra touch of spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes. If you prefer it spicier, feel free to add more. Adjust the amount according to your preference.

Step 6

Step 7

After adding all the ingredients, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot partially or fully and let it simmer gently for another 5 minutes. Simmering on low heat allows the savory flavor and aroma of the Cheonggukjang to deepen beautifully.

Step 7

Step 8

Your steaming hot Cheonggukjang Jjigae is now ready! Enjoy this delicious stew with a bowl of freshly cooked rice. The rich, savory taste is sure to delight everyone.
