Essential Ingredients

  • 2 packets (approx. 1000ml) ready-made beef bone broth
  • 300g sliced rice cakes for soup (tteokguk tteok), adjust to your liking
  • 5 dumplings (mandu), meat-filled
  • 1/2 stalk green onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a recipe for ‘Tteok-Mandu-Guk’ using convenient store-bought beef bone broth, which allows you to make it quickly and deliciously. Thanks to the pre-made broth, you can truly savor the deep and rich beef bone soup flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

First, rinse the sliced rice cakes for soup (tteokguk tteok) thoroughly under cold water. This removes excess starch, which helps keep the broth clear and prevents the rice cakes from sticking together. Drain the rinsed rice cakes in a colander.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, pour both packets of the ready-made beef bone broth (about 1000ml) into a pot. Start boiling over high heat, then reduce to medium heat once it boils and let it simmer gently. It’s important to preserve the inherent rich flavor of the beef bone broth.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the broth begins to boil, add the sliced rice cakes and cook until they become soft and chewy. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking to the bottom of the pot. While the rice cakes are cooking, season the soup with salt to your preference. It’s best to add salt gradually and taste as you go, rather than adding too much at once.

Step 4

Step 5

When the rice cakes are tender and cooked through, add the meat-filled dumplings (mandu) you prepared. Gently place the dumplings into the pot to avoid them bursting. Continue to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dumplings are fully cooked.

Step 5

Step 6

Wash the green onion and thinly slice it. This will be used as a garnish, so slice it into bite-sized pieces.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, garnish the finished Tteok-Mandu-Guk generously with the sliced green onions and shredded seaweed (gim garu). If you like, a sprinkle of ground black pepper will add an extra layer of flavor.

Step 7

Step 8

And there you have it – a delicious Beef Bone Broth Tteok-Mandu-Guk is complete! Enjoy this hearty and deeply flavored soup. It’s perfect for a satisfying meal any time.
