Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, unpack all the components from your meal kit. Arrange them attractively in a hot pot or a deep pan (like a griddle). Place the tripe, vegetables, mushrooms, and other ingredients in an appealing manner for a more appetizing presentation.
Step 2
If you’d like to add a personalized touch beyond the provided seasoning, you can mix all the separate seasoning ingredients together to create your own special sauce. This can offer an even deeper flavor profile compared to using just the pre-made seasoning.
Step 3
Pour the provided broth or water into the pot. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat, allowing all the ingredients to meld together.
Step 4
Once the broth is boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer gently. As it simmers, the rich, fatty content (‘gop’) from the tripe will slowly dissolve into the broth, creating a deeper and more complex flavor. The longer you let it simmer, the more delicious the broth will become.
Step 5
Now it’s time to add the udon noodles for a chewy texture. For best results, briefly blanch the udon noodles in boiling water for about 10 seconds before adding them to the pot; this helps them cook faster and prevents them from becoming mushy. Continue to cook, allowing the broth to reduce slightly as you stir and combine everything.
Step 6
While udon is often best added at the very end and stir-fried, enjoying it simmered together in this stew is also wonderfully delicious! Adjust the finishing stage to your preference and savor the perfect harmony of the flavorful broth, chewy udon, and tender tripe.
