Main Ingredients- 1 can (400g) whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 serving pasta (approx. 100g)
- 20g butter
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sugar (heaping)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of dried parsley (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Pour the entire can of 400g whole peeled tomatoes into a wide, deep pan. Fill the empty can with water, use it to measure 1.5 cans of water (about 600ml), and add it to the pan. Bring to a boil over high heat. This process helps the tomatoes break down and form the sauce.
Step 2
Once the sauce starts to boil, use kitchen scissors to cut the tomato chunks into bite-sized pieces directly in the pan. Aim for pieces that offer a pleasant chew rather than completely pulverizing them.
Step 3
Now, let’s add the ingredients for that rich umami and luxurious sweetness! Stir in 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, and a generous tablespoon of sugar. These seasonings will create a wonderful harmony of flavors.
Step 4
When the sauce is bubbling, add 1 serving of pasta (about 100g, roughly the size of a 100-won coin) and 20g of butter. For the next 10 minutes, stir continuously to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom. If you prefer a softer texture, you can simmer for up to 12 minutes. Check the pasta’s doneness and adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Step 5
As the pasta nears doneness, add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic and a dash of black pepper. The aromatic garlic and the slight kick from the pepper will further enhance the flavor profile. Cook for a little longer until everything is well combined, then serve immediately while hot! For an extra touch of elegance, sprinkle with dried parsley before serving.
