How to Make a Refreshing Shrimp and Napa Cabbage Soup
A clear, refreshing soup made with shrimp, a protein-rich seafood, and crisp napa cabbage. Perfect for a light and revitalizing meal!
Main Ingredients
- Shrimp 80g (peeled and deveined; cocktail or frozen shrimp work well)
- Napa Cabbage 70-80g (about 3-4 leaves)
- Scallions or Green Onions, finely chopped (for garnish)
Seasoning
- Minced Garlic 0.5 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce (Korean soup soy sauce or regular soy sauce) 1 Tbsp
- Salt 2-3 pinches (adjust to taste)
- Minced Garlic 0.5 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce (Korean soup soy sauce or regular soy sauce) 1 Tbsp
- Salt 2-3 pinches (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the ingredients by cutting them into bite-sized pieces that are easy to eat. Cut the shrimp and napa cabbage into manageable pieces; avoid making them too small to maintain a pleasant texture. Finely chop the scallions.
Step 2
In a pot, add 500-700ml of broth (such as anchovy-kelp broth) or water. Bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the water begins to boil vigorously, add all the prepared ingredients: shrimp, napa cabbage, and scallions. Let it boil rapidly for about 7-8 minutes. This process allows the flavors to meld and create a refreshing broth.
Step 3
After the soup has boiled vigorously and the ingredients are cooked through, reduce the heat to low or turn it off temporarily. Add 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic. Be cautious, as adding garlic can cause the soup to froth up significantly. It’s best to add it when the heat is low or off, then bring the heat back up and simmer gently. Finally, add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce. Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with 2-3 pinches of salt as needed to achieve your desired level of flavor. Your delicious and refreshing Shrimp and Napa Cabbage Soup is now ready!
