Toppings & Broth

  • 2 eggs
  • A small amount of cucumber (julienned)
  • 2 servings of store-bought Naengmyeon broth (chill in the freezer for extra coldness!)
  • Store-bought Naengmyeon sauce (adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Boiling the perfect eggs: Place enough water in a pot to cover the eggs. Add 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar to the water, then gently place the eggs in. Boiling for about 9 minutes yields perfectly cooked, firm eggs. Immediately transfer the boiled eggs to an ice bath to cool them down.

Step 1

Step 2

Cooking the noodles: Bring a generous pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the Naengmyeon noodles, making sure to separate them so they don’t clump together.

Step 2

Step 3

Achieving the right chewiness: Cook the noodles in the boiling water for approximately 1 minute, stirring gently with chopsticks to prevent sticking. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.

Step 3

Step 4

Rinsing for a refreshing texture: Immediately transfer the cooked noodles to a bowl of ice-cold water. Then, rinse them under cold running water, gently rubbing the noodles to remove excess starch. This step makes the noodles wonderfully chewy and ensures a clean taste.

Step 4

Step 5

Draining and plating: Once thoroughly rinsed, drain the noodles well using a colander. Then, artfully arrange the drained noodles in serving bowls.

Step 5

Step 6

Assembling your masterpiece: Garnish the noodles with the julienned cucumber and the halved boiled eggs. Finally, pour a generous amount of the ice-cold Naengmyeon broth over the noodles, ensuring it’s refreshingly slushy. Add the store-bought Naengmyeon sauce to your liking for an extra burst of flavor!
