  • Ingredient Category : Fruits
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Others
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh Hallabong orange
  • 1 cup (200ml) sparkling water or clear soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Honey or syrup, to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

If you leave the Hallabong at room temperature for a bit, it will ripen faster and become sweeter. If you plan to store it for longer, keep it refrigerated. Proper storage ensures its freshness.

Step 1

Step 2

The Hallabong we’re using today is plump with juicy flesh and boasts a wonderful balance of sweet and tart flavors. It’s not just sour or just sweet; it’s a healthy fruit grown in high-brix greenhouses (over 15 Brix) without the use of growth promoters or color enhancers.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the Hallabong thoroughly and then cut it in half.

Step 3

Step 4

Using a juicer or a citrus reamer, extract the juice from the Hallabong halves. Pressing firmly will yield juice along with some pulp, enhancing the flavor. If you have multiple Hallabong oranges, it’s much easier and quicker to blend them briefly in a blender and then strain the mixture.

Step 4

Step 5

Pour the freshly squeezed Hallabong juice into your serving glass, including the pulp. The pulp adds a wonderful texture that makes the ade even more enjoyable.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, pour in the chilled sparkling water or clear soda. Hallabong is naturally sweet, so you might not need extra sweetener. However, if you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add honey or syrup to your liking. Cafes often use soda for extra sweetness and fizz. If you prefer less sweetness, just use sparkling water for a purely refreshing taste.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, add a large ice cube to the glass. This not only makes the drink look appealing but also helps keep it cold and prevents it from becoming diluted too quickly, ensuring you can savor every sip.

Step 7
