Refreshing Dongchimi Radish Salad: Super Easy Recipe
Golden Recipe for Dongchimi Radish Salad: A Simple and Quick Side Dish
Let’s make a simple Dongchimi Radish Salad. It’s incredibly easy! This dish captures the refreshing taste of Dongchimi radish and is perfect when you’re not feeling very hungry.
Main Ingredients- 1 Dongchimi radish
- A little bit of Dongchimi radish greens (attached to the radish)
- A little bit of green onions (used for Dongchimi)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
This recipe allows you to fully enjoy the deep and refreshing flavor of Dongchimi radish itself. It’s made simply without complicated steps.
Step 2
First, prepare one Dongchimi radish. Using chopsticks or a knife, thinly julienne the radish into about 0.5 cm thick strips. If they are too thick, the seasoning won’t penetrate well, so it’s best to slice them thinly.
Step 3
If you have Dongchimi radish greens that were used when making Dongchimi, prepare them. Also, chop the green onions that were used for the Dongchimi. These are the ingredients to be mixed with the julienned radish.
Step 4
Place the julienned Dongchimi radish, prepared radish greens, and green onions into a bowl. Gently squeeze out the excess water with your hands. It’s important not to squeeze too much, as this can make the salad dry; aim for a moderate squeeze to maintain the radish’s crispiness while allowing the seasoning to meld well.
Step 5
Add the seasoning ingredients to the squeezed vegetables. Include 2 teaspoons of Gochugaru (Korean chili powder), a little Oligodang for sweetness (adjust the amount to your preference), and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a nutty flavor.
Step 6
Now, gently toss the ingredients with your hands to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Avoid tossing too vigorously, as this can break down the ingredients. This mixing process creates a unique Dongchimi Radish Salad, distinct from regular seasoned radish (Mu Saengchae), with the added refreshing and savory taste from the Dongchimi brine.
