Dressing- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1.5-2 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Vinegar 2-3 Tbsp
- Plum Extract (Maesil-cheong) 1 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame Seeds a pinch
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1.5-2 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Vinegar 2-3 Tbsp
- Plum Extract (Maesil-cheong) 1 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame Seeds a pinch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the dried seaweed in lukewarm water for about 20-30 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the rehydrated seaweed thoroughly under running water. Blanch the seaweed in boiling water for just about 10 seconds – no longer! Immediately shock it in cold water to rinse off any sliminess, then squeeze out as much water as possible. This step is crucial for removing any fishy odor and achieving a pleasant texture. Cut the prepared seaweed into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the prepared seaweed and chopped green onion. Add the gochujang, sugar, vinegar, plum extract, and minced garlic. The amount of sugar and vinegar can be adjusted to your personal preference. We recommend starting with 2 Tbsp of vinegar and adding more after tasting. Gently mix everything together with your hands, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed. Be careful not to over-mix, as this can make the seaweed mushy.
Step 3
Finally, sprinkle in a generous amount of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and flavor. Mix gently once more to incorporate the seeds evenly into the salad.
Step 4
Transfer the finished Miyeok Cho Muchim to a serving dish. This refreshing and flavorful seaweed salad is a fantastic side dish for any meal, or it can be enjoyed as a light and healthy salad.
