Main Ingredients- 50g chives (about 1 handful)
- 40g onion (about 1/4 medium onion)
- 30g carrot (about 1/4 small carrot)
Dressing Ingredients- 2 Tbsp Gompyo Busan Hoe Gochujang
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic (approx. 5g)
- 1/2 Tbsp tuna extract (or Korean soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp Gompyo Busan Hoe Gochujang
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic (approx. 5g)
- 1/2 Tbsp tuna extract (or Korean soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the fresh chives thoroughly and pat them dry. Cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 4-5 cm long. Thinly slice the onion into strips, and julienne the carrot into similar lengths. Ensuring all vegetables are cut to a similar size will make the salad easier to eat and visually appealing.
Step 2
Let’s prepare the flavorful dressing. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of Gompyo Busan Hoe Gochujang, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1/2 tablespoon of tuna extract (or soup soy sauce), 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of gochugaru. Mix these ingredients well until fully combined. You can adjust the amount of sugar or gochugaru to your preference. This step forms the delicious base of our salad.
Step 3
Place the prepared chives, sliced onions, and julienned carrots into a large mixing bowl. Pour all the prepared dressing over the vegetables. Now, it’s time to gently mix everything together. To keep the chives crisp and fresh, avoid overmixing or squeezing the ingredients too hard. Use chopsticks or your hands very lightly to toss the salad, just enough to coat everything with the dressing. This gentle mixing will preserve the delightful crunch of the chives. Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, then give it one last gentle toss. Your delicious Chive and Onion Salad is ready to be enjoyed!
