  • 1 ripe apple
  • 1/2 fresh carrot
  • 1 cup (approx. 200ml) clean water
  • 1/2 tbsp oligodang (or honey) to taste

First, wash the apple thoroughly under running water. Use a knife to cut off the stem at the top and then a knife or spoon to scoop out and remove the core with the seeds. This prevents any seeds from getting into your juice.

Peel the apple, then cut it and the carrot into manageable pieces for your blender. If you prefer to use the apple with its skin on, make sure to wash it very thoroughly using baking soda or by soaking it briefly in water with a splash of vinegar. Peel the carrot as well and chop it into appropriate sizes.

Now, place the prepared apple and carrot into your blender. Add 1 cup of clean water. If you’d like to add some sweetness, you can include about 1/2 tablespoon of oligodang (a Korean syrup) or honey. Other sweeteners like jocheong (rice syrup) also work well. For an extra nutritional boost, consider adding about 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil; it helps with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. (I personally omit olive oil due to its distinct flavor, but feel free to include it based on your preference.)

Securely close the blender lid and blend until all ingredients are smooth and lump-free. The blending time may vary depending on your blender’s power, but typically 30 seconds to 1 minute should suffice. Ensure it’s blended until you achieve a silky smooth consistency with no noticeable chunks.
