Key Ingredients- Dried seaweed 1/2 cup (approx. 10g)
- Store-bought beef bone broth 1 pack (approx. 500ml)
- Sesame oil, a drizzle
- Anchovy sauce 2 Tbsp
- Ground perilla seeds 2 Tbsp (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rehydrate the dried seaweed by soaking 1/2 cup of it in cold water for about 10 minutes. Once softened, squeeze out the excess water and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Heat a little sesame oil in a pot over medium-low heat and stir-fry the seaweed for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. It should become tender and release a nutty aroma.
Step 2
Pour the store-bought beef bone broth (approx. 500ml) into the pot with the stir-fried seaweed. Thanks to the pre-made broth, you can achieve a deep and rich flavor without making your own stock. Bring it to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium.
Step 3
Add 2-3 tablespoons of the water used to soak the seaweed. This will enhance the depth of the broth. (Optional)
Step 4
Once the soup is simmering, add 2 Tbsp of anchovy sauce and 2 Tbsp of ground perilla seeds. Stir well to combine. You can substitute the anchovy sauce with soy sauce if preferred. The perilla seeds add a wonderful nutty flavor that makes the soup even more delicious. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more anchovy sauce or perilla seeds if needed.
Step 5
Serve the delicious beef bone broth perilla seaweed soup hot with a bowl of rice for a hearty and satisfying meal! Even though it’s a quick dish for a busy morning, the deep flavor will surely bring a smile to your face. Enjoy your meal!
