During the college entrance exam period, I made this quick and easy side dish for my kids who are spending more time at home. It’s a speedy meal that’s perfect for busy days!

Main Ingredients

  • Frankfurter sausages 500g
  • Fish cakes (stick type) 200g
  • Carrot 1/3

Seasoning

  • Soy sauce for braising 2.5 Tbsp
  • Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) 2 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic 1 tsp
  • Vegetable oil (sunflower oil recommended) 2 Tbsp
  • Sesame oil a little
  • Toasted sesame seeds 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the frankfurter sausages into bite-sized pieces. First, cut them in half, then cut each half into four pieces. Cutting them into slightly rounded shapes makes them look even cuter.

Cut the stick fish cakes into four equal pieces, similar in length to the sausages. Thinly julienne the carrot. Slicing the carrot thinly ensures it cooks tenderly with the other ingredients.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil (sunflower oil recommended). Add 1 tsp of minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. This step brings out the garlic’s aroma.

Once the garlic is fragrant, add the julienned carrots to the pan. Stir-fry for about 1 minute over medium heat until the carrots are slightly softened.

Now, add the fish cakes and frankfurter sausages to the pan and mix them well. Pour in 2.5 Tbsp of soy sauce for braising and 2 Tbsp of oligosaccharide. Stir-fry quickly over high heat for about 3 minutes. This allows the sauce to coat the ingredients evenly and gives them a glossy finish.

Finally, just before turning off the heat, drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds to finish. Your delicious Sausage and Fish Cake Stir-fry is ready! Serve it over warm rice for a delightful meal.
