Ingredients
  • Your favorite pasta (e.g., spaghetti), enough for 1 serving
  • Jarred tomato sauce or pasta sauce (about half the amount of your pasta)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, fill a large pot with plenty of water for boiling the pasta. While the water heats up, get your ingredients ready. Tip: Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water – it helps season the pasta as it cooks and makes it taste even better!

Step 2

Once the water reaches a rolling boil, carefully add your pasta to the pot. Gently stir the pasta occasionally as it cooks to prevent the strands from sticking together.

Step 3

When the pasta is cooked to your liking (al dente is usually best!), drain most of the water, but reserve about a cup of the starchy pasta water. This magic water will help emulsify the sauce and create a beautiful, creamy consistency later on. Discard the rest of the water.

Step 4

Drain the cooked pasta well, then arrange it artfully on your serving plate. Twirling the pasta with a fork as you plate it can make for a really appealing presentation.

Step 5

Warm up your jarred tomato sauce or pasta sauce. If you have cream sauce on hand, you can even mix it with the tomato sauce for a richer flavor! A good starting ratio is about 2/3 tomato sauce to 1/3 cream sauce, but feel free to adjust to your taste.

Step 6

Generously spoon the warmed tomato cream sauce over the pasta. For an extra touch of gourmet flair, garnish with grated Parmesan cheese or fresh basil leaves before serving.
