Frozen dumplings are always in the freezer, right? This is a super speedy fried rice made with those frozen dumplings! While dumplings are delicious on their own when pan-fried, adding rice and stir-frying them creates a truly satisfying meal. This quick fried rice, featuring frozen dumplings, egg, and rice, seasoned with soy sauce and oyster sauce, is incredibly delicious!

Main Ingredients

  • 6 frozen dumplings
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic

Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 6 frozen dumplings. Since frozen dumplings are rock-solid, place them in a microwave-safe container and steam them for about 3 minutes. This makes it easy to separate the filling. Carefully remove the filling from the steamed dumplings. You can use the dumpling wrappers too if you like, but if you prefer to avoid the dough, just use the filling. Adjust this part according to your preference.

Heat a pan with a little cooking oil. Add the separated dumpling filling and 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic. Although the filling is already cooked, stir-fry it gently to break up any clumps and to combine it with the garlic.

Once the dumpling filling is somewhat broken up, add 1 cup of warm cooked rice. Stir and fry the rice and filling together until well combined and slightly toasted, using your spatula to press down gently.

Push the fried rice and dumpling mixture to one side of the pan. Crack 1 egg into the empty space. Scramble the egg until it’s cooked, then mix it thoroughly with the rice and dumpling mixture and continue to stir-fry.

Gather the rice mixture to one side again. Pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce into the empty part of the pan and let it sizzle for a moment. This process, as chef Baek Jong-won suggests, helps to infuse a smoky flavor. Then, add 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce and mix everything evenly to distribute the seasoning.

Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Give it a final gentle toss to combine all the ingredients, and stir-fry for just a little longer to finish.
