- Butter, a little (for sautéing shrimp)
- Reserved pasta water, 50ml (optional, for sauce consistency)
- Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
- Tomato spaghetti sauce, 200g
- Olive oil, 1 drop (for boiling pasta)
- Salt, a pinch (for boiling pasta)
- Butter, a little (for sautéing shrimp)
- Reserved pasta water, 50ml (optional, for sauce consistency)
- Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing your vegetables. Chop the onion and bell pepper into small pieces (about 1/5 of each). Slice the mushroom (1) and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets (2). While you’re preparing the vegetables, start boiling your pasta. In a pot of generously salted boiling water, add a drop of olive oil and your pasta noodles for one serving. Cook for about 8 minutes, or until al dente. Reserve about 50ml of the pasta water before draining the noodles. This starchy water will be used later to help create a silky sauce.
Step 2
Next, melt a small amount of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the frozen shrimp (6) and sauté until they turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. If you don’t have shrimp, you can substitute with diced ham or bacon for a different flavor profile.
Step 3
Once the shrimp are cooked, add the chopped vegetables (onion, bell pepper, mushroom, broccoli) to the pan with the shrimp. Sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are slightly tender but still have a slight crunch.
Step 4
Pour the tomato spaghetti sauce (200g) into the pan with the shrimp and vegetables. Stir well to combine. Add the drained pasta noodles to the pan. Toss everything together for about 2 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water (about 50ml) to loosen it and create a smoother consistency. For an extra layer of flavor, you can stir in some grated Parmesan cheese at this stage.
Step 5
Your delicious and quick tomato pasta is ready! Serve immediately in a warm bowl. Enjoy your homemade gourmet meal!
