Did you wonder if this dish should only be made with pork neck? I had a lot of pork belly, so I tried making it and it was delicious! Meat is always tasty, isn’t it? The sauce is truly a lifesaver. Let’s make it together! While it’s a combination of store-bought sauces, it’s perfect for those rushed moments. Here’s how I do it! ^^

Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Pork
  • Occasion : Quick & Easy
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Pork Belly 4 slices (approx. 400g)
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1/2 Bell Pepper
  • 1/2 King Oyster Mushroom (optional)

Versatile Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Ginger Powder (optional)
  • 3 Tbsp Steak Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Tonkatsu (Pork Cutlet) Sauce
  • 3 Tbsp Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Honey Mustard Sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all the ingredients for the dish. Cut the 4 slices of pork belly into bite-sized pieces. Slice the onion and bell pepper into similar sizes. If you’re using king oyster mushrooms, slice them generously.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, it’s time to make the star of this dish: the versatile sauce! In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of steak sauce, 1 tablespoon of tonkatsu sauce, 3 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce, and 1 tablespoon of honey mustard sauce. (This will yield about 150ml of sauce in total.)

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a pan over medium heat. Place the prepared pork belly slices in the hot pan and sear them until they turn golden brown on both sides. Cooking over medium heat rather than high heat allows the pork belly to cook through evenly and render excess fat.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the pork belly is nicely browned on both sides, season it. Sprinkle some black pepper and a pinch of salt over the cooked pork belly. If you like, you can add a pinch of ginger powder to help eliminate any porky odor.

Step 4

Step 5

When the pork belly is partially cooked, push it to one side of the pan. In the empty space, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir the fragrant garlic into the pork belly.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and king oyster mushroom to the pan. Stir-fry them together with the pork belly, making sure they don’t burn.

Step 6

Step 7

Sauté the vegetables until they are slightly softened but still retain a bit of crispness. Avoid overcooking them, as they might release water or become too mushy. A slight crunch is ideal.

Step 7

Step 8

Once the vegetables are cooked to your liking, pour the prepared versatile sauce into the pan. Distribute the sauce evenly over all the ingredients.

Step 8

Step 9

Simmer over medium-low heat, allowing the ingredients to absorb the sauce and for it to thicken slightly. As the sauce reduces, it will become glossy and its flavors will intensify, making the dish incredibly delicious. Once everything is well combined and the sauce has thickened, your delicious Pork Belly Jjim is ready!
