- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 2 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce 2 Tbsp
- Dark Brown Sugar 1 Tbsp (adjust to taste)
- Minced Garlic 1 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
- Ginger Wine (or cooking wine) 1 Tbsp
- Pineapple Juice from can 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml)
- 2 slices Canned Pineapple chunks (cut into small pieces)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- Pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, purchase thinly sliced pork neck and cut it into bite-sized pieces that are easy to eat. If the pieces are too large, the sauce might not penetrate well.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine Gochujang (2 Tbsp), Soy Sauce (2 Tbsp), Dark Brown Sugar (1 Tbsp), Minced Garlic (1 Tbsp), Sesame Oil (1 Tbsp), Ginger Wine (1 Tbsp), and a pinch of black pepper. Mix thoroughly to create a delicious sauce. You can adjust the sugar level according to your preference.
Step 3
Open a can of Del Monte pineapple (typically containing 8 slices). Cut 2 pineapple chunks into manageable pieces. Measure about 1/2 cup (100ml) of the pineapple juice from the can and add it to the prepared sauce mixture, stirring well. The pineapple juice will help tenderize the meat and enhance its flavor.
Step 4
Add the sliced pork and the 2 cut pineapple pieces to the sauce. Gently knead everything together with your hands, ensuring the marinade coats the pork evenly. If you have time, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes for an even richer flavor.
Step 5
Preheat a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated pork and begin to stir-fry. It’s best to start on medium heat rather than high heat to ensure the pork cooks through without burning.
Step 6
Once the pork is partially cooked, add the sliced onion and cabbage. Stir-fry them together with the pork. As the vegetables soften, they will release their natural sweetness, further enhancing the overall flavor.
Step 7
While cooking, stir the mixture frequently with a spatula to prevent sticking or burning. Ensure everything cooks evenly. The sauce will thicken and become wonderfully fragrant as it reduces.
Step 8
When all ingredients are well-cooked and the sauce has thickened beautifully, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a final touch. Your delicious, sweet, and spicy Pineapple Pork Bulgogi is ready! Serve it over rice for a satisfying meal.
