Hello everyone! I’m Jin-ok Kim, your home cooking expert. Today, I’m sharing a recipe for ‘Gochu-Doenjang Muchim,’ a dish that’s incredibly simple yet so delicious it’ll make you want to finish your rice bowl in no time! I’ve added plenty of perilla seed powder for an extra nutty and rich flavor. Let’s create a fantastic side dish with simple ingredients!
**Measurements used:** 1 Tbsp (tablespoon) based on a rice spoon.
Main Ingredients- 220g Spicy Korean green peppers (approx. 7 peppers)
- 4 Tbsp Doenjang (fermented soybean paste)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide
- 1 Tbsp fine perilla seed powder
- 3 Tbsp water
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil or perilla oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. First, let’s make the delicious seasoning. In a wide bowl, combine 4 Tbsp Doenjang, 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 1 Tbsp fine perilla seed powder, and 3 Tbsp water. Lastly, add 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil or perilla oil for that savory aroma. Mix everything thoroughly with a spoon until well combined and smooth, ensuring there are no lumps.
Step 2
2. Now it’s time to prepare the main ingredient, the spicy green peppers. Prepare 7 fresh spicy Korean green peppers (about 220g). Gently remove the stems from the peppers. Wash them thoroughly under running water and pat them dry. Then, cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm long. Cutting them slightly thick will give them a better texture.
Step 3
3. Add the prepared spicy green peppers to the seasoning mixture made in step 1. Gently toss the peppers with chopsticks or your hands until evenly coated with the sauce. Your delicious Gochu-Doenjang Muchim is now ready! Let it sit for about 5 minutes for the flavors to meld, and it will taste even better. Enjoy it with a bowl of freshly steamed rice!
