Easy Homemade Roasted Sweet Potatoes with an Air Fryer
These sweet potatoes were grown with great care by my grandmother and brought to me by my mom. I decided to roast them into one of my favorite snacks! Enjoy this simple recipe for delightfully sweet and tender roasted sweet potatoes, made effortlessly at home.

The first step to making delicious roasted sweet potatoes: prepare your sweet potatoes! Make sure to wash them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt, especially if you plan on eating the skins. Give them a good scrub to ensure they are perfectly clean.

Let’s get them ready for the air fryer! Place the washed sweet potatoes in the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 180°C (350°F) and cook for 20 minutes. Starting with this temperature allows the inside to cook through gently while the outside begins to caramelize.
Step 3
After the initial 20 minutes, it’s time to check for doneness. Insert a chopstick or skewer into the thickest part of a sweet potato. If it slides in smoothly with little resistance, they’re perfectly cooked! If it feels firm, they need a little more time. I found that a total of 30 minutes yielded the best results for me. If they’re not quite ready, continue roasting in 5-minute increments, checking after each interval. Cooking times can vary depending on the size of your sweet potatoes and your specific air fryer model, so always keep an eye on them.

Voila! Your beautifully roasted sweet potatoes are ready. The steam rising from these warm, tender sweet potatoes is incredibly inviting.
