Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the chestnuts thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris from the surface. Then, soak the chestnuts in cold water for about 1 hour. If you’re short on time, soaking them in hot water for 10-20 minutes is also a good alternative. After soaking in cold water, drain the chestnuts using a colander.

Step 1

Step 2

To make peeling easier, use a knife to score an ‘X’ shape on the skin of each chestnut. It doesn’t matter which side you make the cut on, the round or the pointed end, so feel free to score them comfortably.

Step 2

Step 3

The first method for cooking the chestnuts is using an electric pressure cooker. Place about 20-30 prepared chestnuts into the pressure cooker, and add about 200ml of water. Then, select the ‘Multi-Cook’ or ‘Steam’ function and press the pressure cook button. This method ensures the chestnuts are cooked through and wonderfully tender.

Step 3

Step 4

After the pressure cooker has finished, it’s a good idea to rinse the cooked chestnuts under cold water. This step makes peeling significantly easier, as the skins will come off much more smoothly.

Step 4

Step 5

The second method uses a regular pot. Place the prepared chestnuts attractively in a steamer basket set over boiling water, and cover with a lid. Steam for approximately 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn off the heat and let the chestnuts steam for another 10 minutes. Once the steaming and resting are complete, rinse them under cold water, peel, and enjoy your delicious boiled chestnuts.
