Main Ingredients- 400g Ground Beef
- 3 servings Spaghetti
- 1/2 Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 3 pcs Button Mushrooms
Sauce & Seasoning- 200ml Tomato Sauce
- 100ml Milk
- Cheese (your preference, e.g., Mozzarella, Cheddar)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Olive Oil (for boiling pasta)
- 200ml Tomato Sauce
- 100ml Milk
- Cheese (your preference, e.g., Mozzarella, Cheddar)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Olive Oil (for boiling pasta)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing your aromatics and vegetables. Finely mince the onion, garlic, and thinly slice the button mushrooms. Next, bring a large pot of water to a boil for the spaghetti. Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package directions for al dente. A good estimate for 2-3 servings is about the size of a 100-won coin (Korean currency) in dry pasta.
Step 2
Just before the pasta is ready to be drained, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling pasta water. This helps prevent the pasta from sticking together and adds a subtle flavor. Since we’ll be finishing this in the oven, aim to cook the pasta to about 11 minutes of boiling time (slightly undercooked).
Step 3
Heat a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion and sauté until fragrant and softened, about 3-5 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 4
Once the onions and garlic are fragrant, add the ground beef to the pan. Break it up with a spoon and cook until it’s browned and no longer pink.
Step 5
When the beef is about halfway cooked, add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until they soften. Pour in the tomato sauce (200ml) and stir everything together. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to your taste.
Step 6
Lower the heat to low. While the sauce is simmering, slowly pour in the milk (100ml). Stir it into the sauce. The milk adds a lovely creaminess and richness to the meat sauce; while optional, it significantly enhances the flavor. Let it simmer gently until the sauce thickens slightly.
Step 7
Drain the cooked spaghetti and add it directly to the pan with the meat sauce.
Step 8
Using tongs or a spatula, toss the spaghetti with the meat sauce until every strand is well-coated. Ensure the sauce is evenly distributed.
Step 9
Transfer the sauced spaghetti to an oven-safe dish. Sprinkle your favorite cheese generously over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and lightly golden. If you don’t have an oven, place the dish in the microwave after adding cheese and heat for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted. Enjoy your delicious oven-baked meat sauce spaghetti!
