Ingredients
- 250g minced beef
- 3 bowls of cooked rice

- A small amount of carrot
- 2L water
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or sake)
Seasoning
- Salt to taste
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Salt to taste
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely mince the carrot for the porridge. This makes it easier for everyone to eat and contributes to a smoother texture.
Step 2
Finely dice the onion as well. If you find dicing onions difficult, you can also grate them.
Step 3
In a pan, stir-fry the minced beef over medium heat. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and is crumbly. This ensures there’s no gamey smell and enhances the flavor. Add 2 tablespoons of cooking wine (mirin or sake) while stir-frying to effectively remove any unpleasant odors from the beef.
Step 4
Once the beef is sufficiently stir-fried, pour 2L of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. You can adjust the amount of water based on the quantity of rice and your desired porridge consistency.
Step 5
When the water boils, add 3 bowls of cooked rice and break up the rice grains with a spatula as you stir. Continuous stirring prevents sticking and ensures a smooth porridge.
Step 6
Once the rice grains have softened and the mixture resembles porridge, add the minced carrot and onion and continue to cook. Simmer over medium-low heat until the vegetables are tender.
Step 7
When the vegetables are fully cooked and soft, season the porridge with salt to taste. You can add a pinch of pepper if you like. Transfer the finished porridge to serving bowls.
Step 8
Place the fresh egg yolk on top of the porridge. The heat from the porridge will gently cook the yolk, allowing it to spread and add richness and flavor.
Step 9
Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish. Your delicious beef and vegetable porridge is ready! Enjoy this comforting and satisfying meal while it’s warm.
