Simple yet Healthy ‘Cabbage Rice’ Recipe, Perfect for Dieting
We’ve added a special touch to plain rice with the crisp and subtly sweet flavor of cabbage. This Cabbage Rice, made simply with just rice and cabbage without any fancy ingredients, is packed with fiber to aid digestion and provides a satisfying fullness, making it an excellent choice for a diet meal. It’s a healthy and delicious recipe that anyone can easily follow with just a rice cooker.
Main Ingredients- Rice (measuring cup) 200ml (approx. 1.5 cups)
- Fresh cabbage 2 leaves (adjust according to size)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it for about 30 minutes. While the rice is soaking, let’s prepare the cabbage. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage, wash it clean, and then thinly shred it or finely chop it. This will ensure the cabbage cooks tenderly and blends well with the rice grains when cooked.
Step 2
Add the drained soaked rice to the rice cooker. Evenly spread the finely chopped cabbage over the rice. Gently mix the cabbage with the rice at this stage; this helps prevent the cabbage from clumping and allows it to permeate well between the rice grains during cooking.
Step 3
Pour water to cook the rice, just as you normally would. Adjust the water amount according to the quantity of rice and cabbage, but be careful not to make it too mushy. We recommend using slightly less water than you would for regular white rice. Now, press the cook button on your rice cooker and wait for the delicious Cabbage Rice to be ready. Freshly cooked Cabbage Rice has a wonderfully nutty and sweet flavor on its own, so it’s great to enjoy as is, or even better served with kimchi!
