Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, it’s important to wash the sweet potato thoroughly. Remove any dirt under running water, then soak it in cool water with 2 tablespoons of vinegar for about 10 minutes. This effectively removes residual pesticides or impurities from the skin. After soaking, rinse it clean several times.

When boiling the sweet potato, adding a piece of dried kelp can help reduce cooking time. The salt content in kelp raises the boiling point of water, helping the sweet potato cook faster. (This step is optional.)

Pour enough water into a pot to just cover the sweet potato, and place the dried kelp at the bottom of the pot.
