Main Ingredients- Bean sprouts 300g
- 1 stalk green onion (scallion)
- Crab sticks (imitation crab meat) 90g
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (or anchovy sauce)
- Pinch of salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (or anchovy sauce)
- Pinch of salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water. Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add half a tablespoon of salt. Add the rinsed bean sprouts and cover the pot, blanching them for about 3-4 minutes until they are crisp-tender. Be careful not to overcook them, as they will become mushy.
Step 2
Drain the blanched bean sprouts in a colander to remove excess water. Carefully transfer them to a mixing bowl. They taste best when mixed while still warm.
Step 3
Gently shred the crab sticks lengthwise into bite-sized pieces and add them on top of the bean sprouts. Shredding them into larger pieces provides a better texture when chewing.
Step 4
Thinly slice the green onion into strips. Add the shredded crab sticks and bean sprouts to the bowl. Then, add the sliced green onion and all the seasoning ingredients (fish sauce, salt, minced garlic, sesame oil). You can adjust the amount of fish sauce and salt to your liking. It’s best to taste and add more if needed.
Step 5
Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, gently mix everything together with your hands by ‘ 조물조물 ‘ (a gentle kneading motion). Be careful not to mash the bean sprouts. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Transfer the finished salad to a nice serving plate, and sprinkle with sesame seeds for a visually appealing finish.
