Pot Rice Ingredients

  • White Rice 300g (approx. 1.5 cups)
  • Sweet Rice (Glutinous Rice) 100g (approx. 0.5 cups)
  • Water 350ml (about 1 to 1.2 times the amount of rice)
  • Fresh Bean Sprouts 200g
  • Minced Pork 200g
  • Soy Sauce 2 Tbsp (for marinating pork)
  • Sugar 2 Tbsp (for marinating pork)
  • Black Pepper a pinch (for marinating pork)
  • Scallions, plenty (for garnish)

Flavorful Seasoning Sauce

  • Soy Sauce 75ml (approx. 1/3 cup)
  • Minced Garlic 0.5 Tbsp
  • Sugar 1 Tbsp
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp
  • Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
  • Fresh Chives 30g (finely chopped)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the bean sprouts. Thoroughly wash 200g of bean sprouts in cold water 3-4 times to remove any dirt or debris. Drain them completely in a colander; this step helps ensure a clean and fresh taste in your rice.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare the rice for cooking. Combine 300g of white rice and 100g of sweet rice, rinse them well, and soak for at least 30 minutes. After soaking, drain the rice and place it into your pot. Add 350ml of water.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the pot with the soaked rice over high heat. Stir the rice occasionally as it comes to a boil. This prevents sticking and ensures the rice cooks evenly.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the water begins to boil, evenly spread the prepared bean sprouts over the rice. Cover the pot and cook on high heat for 3 minutes to maintain the bean sprouts’ crisp texture. Then, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for another 13 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.

Step 4

Step 5

While the rice is cooking, prepare the minced pork. In a pan, stir-fry 200g of minced pork. Once it starts to brown, add 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp sugar, and a pinch of black pepper, continuing to cook until the pork is nicely browned and seasoned.

Step 5

Step 6

Transfer the deliciously seasoned minced pork to a separate plate and let it cool slightly. Cooking it separately before adding it to the rice enhances its flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Turn off the heat after the rice has cooked on low for 13 minutes. Carefully remove the lid to allow the steam to settle.

Step 7

Step 8

Arrange the cooked minced pork over the rice. Generously sprinkle with chopped scallions for garnish. Replace the lid and let the rice steam for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Step 9

Now, let’s make the flavorful seasoning sauce that elevates this Kongnamul Bap. In a bowl, combine 75ml soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic.

Step 9

Step 10

Add 30g of finely chopped fresh chives to the sauce and mix everything thoroughly. This creates a wonderful seasoning sauce! For adults, you can add about 1 Tbsp of chili powder to the sauce for a spicier kick, if desired.

Step 10

Step 11

Serve the perfectly steamed Pork and Bean Sprout Rice with the prepared seasoning sauce. Mix well and enjoy! Each spoonful will be filled with the refreshing crunch of bean sprouts, the rich flavor of pork, and the delicious savory sauce, making it a truly satisfying meal. Enjoy your cooking!
