Vegetables and Ham

  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 green onion
  • 1/3 carrot
  • 1/2 ham

Sauce Ingredients

  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 5 Tbsp tonkatsu sauce
  • 3 Tbsp ketchup

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables and ham for your omurice. Chop the onion, green onion, carrot, ham, and any other ingredients you like into your desired size. You can dice them small for children or cut them a bit larger for adults.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat some oil in a pan. Add ingredients that take longer to cook first (carrots, then ham) and stir-fry over medium heat, being careful not to burn them. Onions and green onions cook quickly, so it’s best to add them later. Stir-fry until all ingredients are evenly cooked.

Step 2

Step 3

While the vegetables are stir-frying, let’s make the delicious sauce! In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp ketchup, 5 Tbsp tonkatsu sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Add 100ml of water and stir. Place it over medium heat and stir continuously as it simmers to create a flavorful sauce. Cook until it becomes glossy.

Step 3

Step 4

Once all the vegetables are stir-fried, turn off the heat and add the rice. Gently mix the cooked vegetables with the rice while the rice is still warm, ensuring it’s well combined. It’s important to mix lightly so the rice doesn’t clump. You can add a little extra ketchup or salt to season to your taste.

Step 4

Step 5

Now it’s time to cook the egg. In a clean pan, whisk 2 eggs and pour them into the pan over medium heat, spreading them thinly. Don’t overcook; cooking them to a soft, semi-set stage will give you a wonderfully tender texture when placed over the rice.

Step 5

Step 6

Shape the rice nicely on a plate, forming a dome. Carefully place the semi-cooked egg crepe over the rice. If you place the uncooked side of the egg towards the rice, it will look even more beautiful.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, generously drizzle the delicious sauce you made over the omurice. You can also add mayonnaise or parsley flakes according to your preference for extra flavor. Today, I added a little mayonnaise for a richer taste and appearance!

Step 7

Step 8

Voila! Your delicious omurice is complete. It tastes best when served immediately while hot. Enjoy a wonderful meal with your family!
